The design for this pendant was purely serendipitous. The craftsmen instead of embossing the interior of a bowl, that was intended to be a basin embossed the exterior. The bowl turned over on it's rim reminded us of chatris found above Hindu and Jain deities in temples as well as homes. This lamp has been featured in the book 'Sar: The Essence of Indian Design' by Swapnaa Tamhane and Rashmi Verma published by Phaidon in 2016.
