This year is going to be unlike any in the past! It will possibly impact everything we touch and feel - the psychological impact of Pandemic has taught the world one common lesson - Nature is a force to harmonise with!
We expect the world to rediscover nature and its beauty, go beyond urban tourism and souvenir travels and seek inner connect with nature, forest, mountains, and ocean. New spirits are finding their roots and comfort amid simplicity and natural environment.
A unique blend of visual impression was born in 2020, as we all went through a series of lockdowns and long periods of isolation. It gave us a new perspective to life and joy of celebrating our immediate environment.
Everyone started cooking and relishing their creative abilities, learning online and exploring new possibilities. The lockdown on global travel put a new spotlight on 'local'. We discovered new meaning in our surroundings, our purpose in life. We were able to reclassify our abilities as assets and figure out what we can do with them. Our expressions this year are going to reflect this and celebrate the fruits of introspection born out of 2020.
We have all learnt to improvise in 2020. As our belief systems, our entire built environment and our way of life got challenged by the Covid 19 outbreak, as a race, we have discovered how to adapt, rapidly to the changing environment and find joy in ‘nothing’. We will uncover the benefits of going modular, but unlike in the past when modular meant standardisation, in 2021, we will discover the liberating power of modular. As we layer the most advanced design concepts and visual toolkit to develop a more universal and yet highly personal language of expression - we will unlock the next decade of innovation in our build environment. Lessons from ancient cultures and traditional practices will inform the digital creative environment to create a new cultural language that's local and global at the same time.
2021 marks the birth of "end of fossil fuel era". The first decade to see a drop in demand for fossil-fuelled manufacturing economy and beginning of a formal shift to sustainable sources of power and a new emerging aesthetic - as we start rediscovering natural materials, environment and processes.
We will see the transition of fuel economy giants. Designers and manufacturers all begin to embrace the natural lifestyle and materials - creating the renaissance of design and manufacturing as this new energy push will transform everything we consume.
Pandemic has created a strange mix of emotions and extreme contrast. There has been pain and suffering from the loss of life on one side. At the same time, there is also a renewed commitment to life and assimilation of human energy - we will celebrate this contrast in 2021 with sharp style, metallic lustre, power animal motifs and innovative use of materials. By mixing and matching these contrasting emotions, we will create a new environment celebrating the birth of a new world, emerging from the Pandemic's devastation.
