I’m Saloni, a 7th-generation block printing artisan from Sanganer, Jaipur. Block printing has been in my family for generations and I grew up surrounded by this craft, watching fabrics being hand-printed with precision and care. My father, Mr. Ram Tilak Pandey, started Salone, and now I joined salone to carry forward it in my own way. Before fully stepping into Salone, I pursued my studies in Soft Material Design at IICD to understand more about the Indian crafts and I worked with Italian designer Modesti, where I learned how block printing could be used in the international luxury market. That experience gave me a new perspective, it showed me that this craft has endless possibilities beyond what we’ve known for centuries.
